Spread the word
We need to let more folks in our community know that our library is at risk of closing and being moved out of our neighborhood and Raleigh! We need more public awareness and support to SAVE OUR COMMUNITY LIBRARY.
Help us engage
Athens Drive High School students and staff love our library! Can you imagine if 2000 students posted a video? If you know students or staff, please share with them our work. Please talk to your neighbors and get them to join our email list. A recent message from Marie Dexter, the PTA president for Athens Drive High School, makes this point really well.
Speak out!
Let your elected representatives and our government staff know that keeping the Athens Drive Community Library in our neighborhood is an important issue for you and your friends and family. We hope you will join us in telling the Commission why a site in our neighborhood is so important to you, and to all of us at the next Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday, December 1 at 5pm at the Wake County Justice Center, room 2700 (wear red!). (Note: the meeting after that will be Monday, January 5, 2026 at 5pm, in the same location.)
Contact information for our officials:
Wake County Commissioners are responsible for picking a site and building libraries in the county- start with them! The following form will reach all of the commissioners: https://www.wake.gov/departments-government/board-commissioners/contact-your-board-commissioners-office
Because our current library is located inside of the Athens Dr. High School, the Wake County School Board also plays a critical role, especially since one of the KEY proposed sites for a new stand alone replacement library is on the Athens Dr. High School campus. Here is a map showing possible locations. Contact info for the school board is below:

The City of Raleigh also owns land next to the high school and in the community. We have also asked them to consider ways they can provide land or other assistance, and they are very supportive. All of the Raleigh City Council (all members) may be reached by sending one email to citycouncilmembers@raleighnc.gov
